It may seem strange to listeners, but podcasting is actually more expensive than one might think. In addition to our time commitments, we also invest a lot into our recording equipment, editing software, server fees for our website, and numerous other “cloud” expenses.  It adds up.

Many podcasts offset their production costs with ad-revenue or sponsorships. We’re not opposed to the idea of a sponsorship– call us!– but we’ve never really liked the idea of interrupting our conversation with advertisements. 

So, Hotel Bar Sessions depends on the kindness and generosity of its listeners to defray the costs of our operation. At the end of each episode, we encourage you all to visit our Patreon page, where you can choose a regularly recurring (monthly) amount to contribute to the podcast. Patreon remains the financial lifeline that supports our co-hosts and allows them to keep doing this thing that they love so much.

However, some of you have written to us lately to ask how you might support HBS without having to sign up to Patreon. (FWIW, we get it. There are many good reasons to be suspicious of auto-withdrawal services!) Patreon does not allow for “one-time donations,” but many other services do!
